At 26 years old, David Worobec hasn't stopped playing with his action figures. But when he plays with them, he draws a crowd. David, who studied opera at the Boston Conservatory, stages entire musicals with action figures on a tiny stage.
About 20 people are sitting on couches and folding chairs, watching Andrew Lloyd Webber's rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar." But it's not the one you think you know. What makes this rock opera different are the actors, about 40 of them. They're all plastic action figure dolls. And they're performing on a miniature stage.
The music swells. The background lights soften. Two characters stand alone downstage and profess their love through song. From stage left, a giant hand emerges and presses the characters together in an embrace.
